Annual Events
Lower School Olympics began in 1990 as an educational endeavor to learn more about the world in which we live. The annual Benjamin Olympic Day held in February has grown into an event that takes on the true characteristics of the Olympic spirit; exemplifying the spirit of friendship, solidarity, and fair play. Each classroom in grades 1-5 adopts a country and studies its customs and culture in detail. The Benjamin Olympic day is the culmination of the studies and a day in which each class represents its adopted country, yielding an athletic event spirited with competition among these "nations". The Olympic Day combined with our month long study enables all of us to see the importance of understanding and appreciating the rich cultures and diverse perspectives that are found both within our country and other nations. All olympic participants are rewarded with winning ribbons. A classroom is declaired the overall Olympic Champions, and a classroom earns the prestigious Peter Graham Sportsmanship Award.

The Presidents Physical Fitness Challenge is a battery of physical fitness testing prepared by the Presidential Council for Physical Fitness and Sport. We provide a preliminary testing at the onset of each year. As the school year progresses, students strive to enhance their overall fitness levels through the guidance of the physical education teaching staff. The Physical Fitness Test administered in the spring recognizes students for their level of physical fitness in the following areas: abdominal strength and endurance, speed, quickness and agility, heart/lung endurance, upper body strength and endurance, flexibility of the lower back and hamstrings. The Presidential Council for Fitness and Sport offers three awards for students in grade 3-5 who meet the program qualifications: The Presidential Physical Fitness Award, The National Physical Fitness Award, and The Participant Physical Fitness Award.

Red Ribbon Week is a national drug awareness campaign celebrated each year during the last week of October. In conjunction with this national celebration, our Middle School campus is decorated with red ribbons to support this important campaign. Red Ribbon Week presents the opportunity to reinforce the belief that no use of illegal drugs and no illegal use of legal drugs shall prevail in our schools, neighborhoods, and communities. Alcohol and tobacco products are also considered to be illegal drugs for our students. In addition to classroom discussions, there are a number of exciting events to make the week special, such as 'Eat Dinner With Your Family Night', 'Shade Out Drugs Day' and a presentation by the Palm Beach County Substance Abuse Coalition.
