College Counseling

Every Benjamin graduate goes on to college or university, including the most selective institutions in the nation. Step onto the Harvard, Yale, Columbia, University of Pennsylvania campuses, and you’ll find Benjamin alums.  Same is true at schools like Duke, Georgetown, Boston College, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt.  You'll also find our graduates at the University of Florida and Florida State, as well as at smaller schools such as Middlebury, Swarthmore, and Davidson.  Some students matriculate internationally, including at St. Andrews in Scotland and Queens College in Canada.  Most importantly, Benjamin's college counselors work hard to help our students find the best college or university for their individual interests and aspirations.

College counseling is indeed counseling, not placement, and we support the young people in our care as they come to know themselves more fully, in order to seek the best possible “fit” between themselves and the wide range of colleges and universities that are available.

At Benjamin,  college counseling begins in 8th grade, with reinforcing programs in 9th and 10th.  Individualized, family-based college counseling starts in earnest in the junior year, and becomes highly intensive and focused during senior year.  Our counselors, through one-on-one work, make sure that each graduate finds the best next step in his or her journey of lifelong learning.
