Student Services

Preventive and Responsive Approaches
The Student Services Program is comprised of counselors and specially-trained educators who work with students in grades Pre-K3 through 12 in and out of the classroom, offering developmentally-appropriate programs that are both preventive and responsive. The programs are research-based and designed to help ensure that children realize and achieve their potential as learners and as contributing members of a community.

Character Education and More
Team members are responsible for character education in Pre-K3 - 12, the advisory system in Middle and Upper School, the community service program and for intervening in cases where students are experiencing difficulty learning, or social or emotional difficulties that arise from, or impact, their school life.

Ensuring Success
The work of Student Services is often confidential and conducted behind closed doors.  It may not be until a family experiences a challenge related to their child's education that they become aware of the existence or scope of the services provided by the Student Services team.  Once referred, however, the work of the experienced counselors will usually provide the necessary buffer, referral system, and on-campus support essential to ensure a child's success at The Benjamin School.
