Faculty and Staff Honored at Back to School Luncheon

Head of School Bob Goldberg greeted faculty and staff on August 10 at the annual Back to School luncheon meeting and also extended a warm welcome to Head of Upper School Fletcher Carr in his introductory remarks to the audience assembled in Benjamin Hall. Division Heads Charles Hagy (Middle School) and Dr. Kristen Sheehan (Lower School) joined Carr and Goldberg on stage in welcoming the following new members of the TBS faculty:
 
Upper School - Andrew Burruss (mathematics teacher), Velija Causevic (World Language Department Chair), Travis Glennon (social studies teacher) and Dr. Nicholas Lockey (band/music teacher); 
Middle School - Nathan Ginnetty (English teacher) and Stephanie Oster (science teacher);
Lower School - Kyle Bowron (Grade 2), Amy Mazzota (Grade 2), Lauren McGarity (Grade 2) and Alex Fisher (Grade 3). Sheehan also introduced lower school faculty members assuming new assignments for the 2016-17 school year: Belen Clifford (strings teacher), Martha Colee (kindergarten teacher), Renee Coviello (art teacher), Victoria Sloane (Director of ACE/After-Care and Enrichment) and Kelsey Wilder (Grade 3).

Goldberg and the Division Heads also presented Years of Service Awards to the following faculty and staff members:

(45 Years) Joanna Hogan; (35 Years) Sara Salivar; (25 Years) Kathleen Devine; (20 Years) Steve Hamel, Cathy Hansen and Anne Kearns; (15 Years) Steve Anderson, Jody Bear, Ed Chaplin, Mary Beth Donaldson, Glenda Donato, Jeff Johansen, Ro Sammis, Leeanne Sampson, Lucy Shulas and Janice Spivey; (10 Years) Lola Arbuzow, Bob Bayless, Gloria Boyd, Cherie Fromson, Sandra Held, Greg Keller, Nidhi McVicar, Amanda Pierman, Lindsey Robertson and Andriana Zachariades.
 
The award festivities continued with Goldberg’s presentation of the Peter and Jody Graham Distinguished Teaching Award* to upper school English teacher John Perrugia. The Head of School additionally presented Juan Jaramillo and Al Velasquez, members of the upper school maintenance staff, with the Bank of America Distinguished Service Award.**
 
*Peter and Jody Graham Distinguished Teaching Award (John Perrugia - 2016 recipient):
Provides an annual teacher stipend to recognize and reward demonstrated excellence in teaching and related duties, including dedication, hard work, length of service, loyalty to the school and extracurricular contributions. Established in 2005 by Mrs. Robert Myers and the Myers family in honor of former Head of School Peter Graham and his wife, former Director of Admission Jody Graham.
 
**Bank of America Distinguished Service Award (Juan Jaramillo, Al Velasquez - 2016 recipients):  
Provides an annual stipend to a faculty or staff member to recognize and reward distinguished service to the school and other qualities of merit that include, but are not limited to, dedication, hard work, length of service, loyalty to the school and extracurricular contributions. Established in 2005 by Bank of America.
