US Teacher Reprises TV Role

Upper school Director of Theater Jason Peck returned to his roots during the School’s Spring Break and traveled to Los Angeles to reprise his role as Jason Brackman in L.A. Law. Peck will spent his break shooting the new series for ABC, directed by Anthony Hemingway and produced by Marc Guggenheim and Ubah Mohamed, on a 20th Century lot.

“They have been trying to reach me since last October, but I’m not currently pursuing an acting career. They were able to finally connect with me through my theater company and asked if I was interested in coming back and replaying my work for L.A. Law,” said Peck.

Peck said the process of being cast for a role is usually the opposite - typically actors audition and plead their case to producers.

“Instead, they were pitching me on my role which was kind of cool,” said Peck who explained the team wanted continuity from the original 2002 L.A. Law Movie-Of-The-Week.

While the plan is currently to produce a pilot, Peck said there is a good chance it may get picked up, which could lead to a potentially recurring role.

“I preach to my classes realism, honesty, and integrity. We worked so hard last year on film acting and what it means to modulate your performance for the screen. I’m excited to put into practice everything we have been doing with the kids,” said Peck.

“I’m also kind of excited to see what I’ve learned in the last year and the filmmaking process itself,” said Peck who hasn’t been on a movie set since 2005 when he appeared in In Her Shoes with Cameron Diaz.

While his acting bonafides are tremendous, Peck said his most important starring role has been as a parent to two young children, who are excited that dad will be appearing alongside a famous singer they listen to on the way to school.

“She will be playing the role of herself,” said Peck.
