US Students Enjoy Class Building Day

On Wednesday, August 23, Benjamin upper school students could be found around town playing dodgeball on trampolines, racing go-carts, and braving water slides.

These seminal high school moments were part of the upper school’s Class Building Day.
The annual team building day provides an opportunity for each grade level to bond in a setting outside the typical academic day.

Freshmen took part in advisory challenges, fun and games, and inflatable races on-campus before enjoying an early dismissal. Sophomores visited a trampoline park, juniors traveled to Fun Depot, and seniors headed to the Rapids.

Dean of Students Kevin Jacobsen, who organizes the event, said it is one of his favorite days of the school year.

“We get to start the year with a celebration of the whole community while also focusing on the bonds present at each grade level. With each passing year, students can look forward to a different experience together as one grade just to grow closer as a group without having to worry about classes and assignments,” he said.

Jacobsen said Class Building Day also marks “the end of the beginning of the school year” as the upper school’s regular schedule cycle commences next week.

“This is one of those special days where the bonds of our students grow deeper and memories of Benjamin for our future alumni are made,” he said.
