Benjamin Community Honors Nation's Veterans

The Benjamin School community spent November 11th honoring our nation’s veterans and those who are serving in active duty, for the sacrifices they have made for our country. Both campuses put on individual ceremonies to honor these brave men and women.

Marshall Mullnix, middle school social studies department chair, conducted the ceremony for lower and middle school students. Members of both our school and local community were in attendance and were treated to performances by the middle school band and chorus.

On the upper school campus, the chorus, orchestra and the Dazzlers dance team performed for the student body. Head of Upper School Fletcher Carr welcomed students to the assembly by sharing the story of his grandmother’s neighbor who was a WWI pilot.

Carr introduced faculty member Marc Washington, an Iraq war veteran, who spoke about his involvement in Operation Iraqi Freedom to a rapt audience of students in Benjamin Hall.
