Senior Class Celebrates Grandest Friends’ Day

Marti Lotman
The Benjamin School welcomed dozens of grandparents and grandest friends on Wednesday for the 12th grade Grandest Friends’ Day celebration.

The honored guests joined their grandchildren and special friends in the lobby of Benjamin Hall where they shared lunch together. Students and their guests heard from Head of School Bob Goldberg, who introduced Benjamin’s new Chief Development Officer Juan Carlos Fanjul ‘93, and Head of the Upper School Fletcher Carr. Carr praised the strength of the generational bonds that make up the Benjamin community, and said our older generations are critical to the development of our current students.

“Essentially - even though young people feel that they are in the midst of new issues daily - there is nothing new under the sun, and grandparents and grandfriends do a wonderful job in helping the younger generations work through the universal issues that all humans face,” said Carr.

The lunch was punctuated by musical performances by the Upper School Chorus and The Dazzlers. The Lower and Middle School will celebrate Grandest Friends’ Day the week of March 6.
