James Dunne - November 10, 2010

The 2010-11 Leadership Lecture Series commenced on the Upper School Campus November 10 with a presentation by Jimmy Dunne, Senior Managing Principal of Sandler O'Neill and Partners, a Wall Street investment banking firm.

Students, faculty and staff assembled in the Healey Athletic gymnasium to hear Mr. Dunne's courageous and impassioned feat of rebuilding  Sandler O'Neill  following the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center. Of the 83 employees who showed up for work that day at the firm's office located on the 104th floor of the World Trade Center, only 17 survived. The firm's two founding executives also perished. Mr. Dunne was not in the office that horrific morning. Yet his story is one of survival and doing the right thing.

Following comments by Head of School Robert Goldberg and an introduction by  Board of  Trustees Chairman Dan Stanton and founder of the Leadership Lecture Series, the audience viewed a video segment from CBS "60 Minutes" filmed a year after  9/11 which described the firm's insurmountable recovery  process spearheaded by the determination of Mr. Dunne.
