WOW Holds Annual Trike-a-Thon

WOW students took part in Benjamin’s school-wide community service project on February 10 when they held their annual trike-a-thon to benefit students in need at Lake Park Elementary School. The three and four-year-old students presented Lake Park Elementary School representative Mrs. Gooley with hundreds of dollars worth of school supplies they had collected. The WOW students then pedaled their hearts out as they sped around a track on the lower school basketball court, accompanied by cheers of encouragement from parents, classmates and faculty.

“One of my students asked this morning why we were having a WOW Trike-A-Thon,” PK3 teacher Sherri Danyali said. “Even though we have discussed it many times it is important to take the time to make sure that the students understand how they can, just like the “Rainbow Fish,” share their scales by showing kindness to others.

“When our students look around their classrooms they are full of books and toys and everything needed for learning. However, not all students in the United States of America have the school supplies they need to learn. Through their efforts collecting school supplies for the students at Lake Park Elementary School, the WOW students learned that their efforts at three and four-years-old can make a difference to help other children in our own community. The WOW teachers are so appreciative that our parents and students donated needed supplies such as crayons, pencils, paper, notebooks, and dry erase markers.”
