International Student Admission Policy

  • Application

    International students from Asia should contact Peter Noto at 561.699.8990 regarding admission to The Benjamin School. All other international students should contact the school directly at
  • TOEFL (test of English as a foreign language)

    Submit TOEFL score. The Benjamin School will consider student applicants for grades 6-12 with a minimum TOEFL score of 85. All applicants are arequired to take the TOEFL within 12 months of the intended school year.
  • Transcripts

    Submit current grades and academic transcripts for two previous years. These documents need to be officially transcribed into English.
  • Interview

    If TOEFL score and grades meet our requirements, applicants will be contacted to set up a Skype or in-person interview.
  • Recommendations

    Submit School Statement, English teacher recommendation, and Math teacher recommendation from current teachers. The School Statement must be submitted by a current school administrator, and Teacher Recommendations must be submitted by current English and Math teachers. Recommendations from tutors or former teachers are not acceptable. These documents must be official Benjamin School documents completed in English and must be submitted directly from the applicant’s school to
  • Test Scores

    Submit standardized admission test scores. In addition to the TOEFL, all students must sit for one of the following:
    • Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) OR the
    • Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) OR the
    • PSAT OR the
    • ACT OR the
    • SAT
    Candidates must take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) and should request that the testing agency, known as the Educational Records Bureau (ERB), send test scores to our Admission Office by submitting our school code: 102031 when registering. You must register through ERB ( to take the ISEE. The test is held at The Benjamin School, Upper School Campus in Palm Beach Gardens. Check-in is at 8:00 a.m. The testing dates at The Benjamin School for admission to the 2019-20 school year are: October 20, November 10, December 8, February 9, March 30 and May 18.

    In lieu of the ISEE, Benjamin accepts the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) administered by the Secondary School Admission Test Board (SSATB), as a valid entrance examination. Please make sure SSATB forwards the test results directly to The Benjamin School. Our school code for the SSAT is 1580.

    Scores must be sent directly to The Benjamin School Admission Office from the testing company.
  • Decision

    International applicant admission files will be reviewed only after ALL documents have been submitted.
  • Campus Visit

    In order to obtain an I-20 form, all international applicants are required to visit the school by May 1st as part of the admission process. Applicants will conduct a live interview and complete a writing sample during their campus visit.
  • Admission Decision

    If offered admission, international students will be required to attend a Benjamin Academic Enrichment Summer Class for a minimum of one week.
