Middle School Students Honored At Annual Academic Awards Ceremony

Middle school students were honored for their hard work and dedication to academics, the arts and athletics during the annual Awards Ceremony on May 25.

Head of Middle School Chuck Hagy presented the Marshall Benjamin award to Tyler Kelly, a sixth grade student who has shown leadership, citizenship, enthusiasm, concern for others and service to the school. English teacher Toby Harbeck presented the Richard F. Ridgway Award to the Middle School student who best exemplifies true honesty and integrity.

“Sometimes you meet someone in your life who is a major influence on making you a better person. It is an impression that stays with you forever. Richard Ridgeway was one of those people who greatly influenced and enhanced the lives of the faculty, staff and students at The Benjamin School,” said Harbeck, before presenting the award to seventh grader Andrew Moffitt.

The John Allen Headmaster’s Award was presented in memory of Dr. John Allen to Joey Palomba for his contributions in the areas of citizenship, moral integrity, academic achievement and self-discipline.

  • Middle School Athlete of the Year Award - Ali Brown, Matt Roundtree

  • Ranking Scholar Awards - Addie Vining, Emilie Dubiel, Madeline Comorat, Cole McIlvaine
  • Marshall Benjamin Scholars - Jane Boyland, Grace Kearns, Evan Liberman, Sophia Liporace, Ella Pierman, Emeline Smith, Teresa Tuong, Caroline Yancey, Jake Zur

Additional academic achievement awards were presented for each subject area.
