Students, Parents, Friends Enjoy STEM Center Showcase

Students, parents and friends of Benjamin were treated to a STEM Center Showcase on Friday, September 14 in the lower/middle School gym. The preview, in anticipation for the Maglio Family STEM Center debut in 2019, featured several interactive stations, new technologies that will be featured in the building, and a preview of interior rooms. Students enjoyed virtual reality demonstrations, robotics, and hydroponic gardening.

Chief Development Officer Juan Carlos Fanjul ‘93 said the showcase was the perfect way for visitors to touch, feel and see exactly what will be happening in this world-class facility.

“I heard many 'wows' and 'that's amazing' from children and grown-ups alike. Benjamin is certainly leading the way locally and regionally when it comes to advancing STEM education,” Fanjul said.

Lower School Science Coordinator Susan Bickel said the showcase provided an exciting snapshot of activities that students will be able to partake in the new Maglio Family STEM Center.

“The building, creating, and exploring that our students will be able to participate in when the building opens will be unmatched in our area in a lower school setting. We are so fortunate to be able to offer these kinds of experiences,” Bickel said.
