Middle School Students Sign Honor Code Pledge During Special Assembly

Middle School students gathered for a special assembly on September 28 in the Barker Performing Arts Center, where they affirmed The Benjamin School Honor Code. Head of Middle School Charles Hagy welcomed professionally dressed sixth, seventh and eighth graders to the annual ceremony hosted by the division’s Student Services Department.

Hagy introduced longtime coach Ron Ream, who shared what the Honor Code has meant for the School throughout the years. Ream shared stories of his time as a coach at Benjamin and his friendship with Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin. A life of honor, according to Ream, was something that Mr. Benjamin expected.

“It’s just who he was,” said Ream.

Faculty and students then took turns singing the pages of Honor Code books while piano music was performed by middle school musicians. Director of Student Services Susan Poncy said signing the honor code books reaffirms the School's commitment to the highest personal and community values including academic and social integrity.
