School-wide Community Service Initiative Announced

The Benjamin School’s annual school-wide community service project has been announced for the 2018-19 school year. The School will be partnering with The Palm Beach Habilitation Center, an organization serving adults with physical, developmental and emotional disabilities.

PBHC’s aim is to ensure that individuals with disabilities have the best environment in which to learn, work and live. They provide vocational training, employment, community job placement, life skills training and other resources to aid their clients.

“Previous Benjamin school-wide projects have addressed issues in the areas of hunger, homelessness, health, education and hurricane relief. These projects have been extremely successful and meaningful. Concern for others and a commitment to serve society is included in the School’s mission statement and has always been an integral part of Benjamin's culture,” said Director of Student Services Susan Poncy.

Partnered initiatives planned for the school year include:

  • WOW Annual Trike-a-Thon - The youngest TBS students will be invited to bring art supplies to their event to share with PBHS clients.
  • Halloween Costume Drive - Grade 3 and Upper School students will join together to collect costumes to be donated to PBHC.
  • Holiday Decorating Party - Upper school students will take food and decorations to the center. Students and clients will decorate the PBHC dining area together.
