Upper School Economics Class Travels To Local Dairy Farm

Dr. Hope Myers and her upper school Economic Issues class traveled to Jupiter Creamery, a local dairy farm, as part of their studies on the Florida Aquifer’s impact on the state’s economy.

“Since the Floridian economy is highly dependant on beef cattle and dairy livestock, we looked at a local farm, Jupiter Creamery, to see how the cows, chickens, pigs, and turkeys depend on clean water and unpolluted grazing and how the farmer, Suzie Dudas, works to make sure the animal waste does not pollute the human water supply,” said Myers.

Myers said the learning objective is to create awareness about how much of Florida’s economic growth depends on the aquifer and fresh water springs and to discover ways to protect this priceless resource.
