The Linda Twitchell College Fair was held in the Upper School Healey Gymnasium on Thursday, October 17th. The college fair was named after Mrs. Twitchell, former Administrative Assistant for College Counseling at the Upper School, who retired last year. The event was profiled in the Palm Beach Post as one of the 3 Things to Do In Gardens in October.

According to the College Counseling Office, the event hosted 170 colleges and universities from more than 30 states and 5 countries and had close to 1,000 people in attendance. Members of the faculty and National Honor Society volunteers started working at 5:30 pm. They greeted the college representatives, checked them in, and helped to arrange the venue. Although the event did not officially start until 7:00 pm, many students and parents were already waiting in the lobby. Students came from various high schools in the area, from Jupiter High School to Oxbridge Academy.

Benjamin students used the college fair to learn more about the colleges they are interested in.

“The college fair was a great experience because I was able to learn more about academics and student life at each college. I asked many colleges what percentage of students are involved in Greek life because I would prefer to go to a school that is not extremely centered around sororities and fraternities,” said senior Alexandra Denholtz.

Mrs. Adria Carr and Mrs. Anna Wright from the College Counseling Office said that the college fair provided students with the opportunity to have several conversations with many types of schools and also the ability to network with schools of great interest. The depth and variety of schools also allowed students to see and compare different types of colleges and universities.
