US Air Force Band Performs In Benjamin Hall

The United States Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants delivered a matinee performance in Benjamin Hall on October 20 to an audience of more than 700. The event, open to the public, featured the USAF band and six Benjamin students in a joint performance on the band’s second number, Okeechobee Paso Doble

The piece was written specifically for the USAF tour and featured Benjamin students Alec Adam on the French horn,  Alex Garcia on bass clarinet, Madeleine Haas on trombone, Ella Pierman on flute, Matthew Postman on tuba and Nichaela Williams on percussion.

“Judging from their post-performance expressions, the students had an amazing time,” said Head of Upper School Fletcher Carr.

Kindergarten students also participated in the event, decorating placemats for the band to use during a pre-concert lunch hosted by the School. The band was so touched by the gesture that they took the placemats on-stage during the show.

Members of the local community and former servicemen and women enjoyed the opportunity to attend the performance in Benjamin Hall. One attendee reached out to Carr to offer his thanks.

“It was an absolute honor to be able to attend this event with my son and some very close friends who served in the Military. It really makes a person look back and be thankful that we are all Americans and live in this great country,” his email read.
