Buccaneer Ghouls and Goblins Celebrate Halloween

Benjamin students and faculty across all three divisions enjoyed a variety of fall traditions, both old and new. The revelry began on the morning of Wednesday, October 30, with Pre-K3 students proudly parading around the quad in their most fun, frightful, and fanciful Halloween costumes. 

 

Lower School students, escorted by “14-Year-Club” seniors, paraded around Kennerly Field during the annual Lower School Halloween Parade on October 31. The students, led by Interim Head of School Tom Reid dressed as a fisherman, showed off their costumes for the crowd of parents, grandparents, faculty, and friends. Following the parade, the “14-Year-Club,” seniors who have attended Benjamin since Pre-Kindergarten, assembled in front of the iconic banyan trees for a club photo. 

 

Middle School students celebrated the holiday with their second annual “Buc-o-Ween,” founded by Middle School Academic Dean Chuck Maddox. They enjoyed games of cornhole and giant Jenga dressed in spirited orange and blue attire. The group undertook their eleventh-annual pumpkin decorating contest followed by a Halloween pizza party. This year, their pumpkins were donated to the non-profit organization Friends of Foster Children as part of the School’s community service outreach initiative. 

 

The Upper School joined in the pumpkin decorating fun and each advisory group selected an early reader book and decorated a pumpkin to go along with that work. Each pumpkin and corresponding book was donated to a Palm Beach County foster family. The Upper School Student Council also opened its doors to the “Best Buddies,” a non-profit organization for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, for an afternoon “Seek N Treat” that featured candy stations around campus.
