Pre-K Teachers Present STEM Curriculum At FCIS

Pre-Kindergarten lead teachers Laura Chesnes, Kate Buettin, Joanie Garrettson, and Lindsey Robertson were invited to present their Early Childhood STEM curriculum at the annual Florida Council of Independent Schools Convention in Orlando, Florida. The group’s presentation focused on learning in the 21st Century and integrating technology into a traditional curriculum.

“In other words, balancing and respecting the importance of both equally,” said Garrettson.

The STEM curriculum created by Garrettson and her team covers everything from robotics to QR codes and learning mats.

Garrettson said she was shocked and humbled to learn that she and her team have followers.

We discovered when we were there that we actually have followers! People who had seen us at other conferences saw us on this year’s program and could not wait to see what we were presenting,” said Garrettson.
