Benjamin Community Gathers In Honor Of Nation’s Veterans

The Benjamin School community collectively paused the morning of November 11 to celebrate and honor our nation’s veterans. Both campuses gathered for morning assemblies to honor the sacrifices of these brave men and women.

Head of Middle School Charles Hagy led the ceremony for lower and middle school students. Keynote speaker and former Benjamin teacher Mr. Frank Taylor, a graduate of West Point, offered suggestions to students about how they could thank a veteran for their service.

Veterans in both the school and local community were honored for their service and treated to performances by the Middle School Honor Band and Chorus and original poems written by three middle school students.

Head of Upper School Fletcher Carr welcomed students to an assembly in Benjamin Hall. Carr introduced Keynote speaker Mr. Bob Brender, a Marine Sergeant who served in the Korean War. Brender spoke about his time in the service and the perils of war. The assembly concluded with performances by The Dazzlers dance team and the upper school band and chorus.
