Fall Sports Season Wraps Up With Playoffs, State Championships

The Buccaneer fall sports season culminated with a Sports Awards Ceremony on Thursday, November 21 in the Healey Gymnasium. The program recognized outstanding athletes, teams, and their coaches for the Fall season. Boys and girls bowling, cross country, golf, football, swimming and girls volleyball and cheerleading were all recognized for their seasons.

Director of Middle School Athletics and varsity golf coach Toby Harbeck was named Coach of the Year by the Sun Sentinel. Harbeck is joined by Blake Bowen and Sebastian Nachilly who were both named to the Sentinel’s First-Team All Area. Jenna Fonda was named to the Sentinel’s First-Team All Area for her impressive golf season. 

Athletic Director Ryan Smith ‘93 said the fall athletic season was a huge success for the Buccaneers.

We had multiple teams advance deep into the FHSAA playoffs and also to state championships. Although winning and success is important, I am more proud and impressed with how student-athletes represented themselves and our school in their respective games and competitions. In addition, our athletes showed tremendous grit and perseverance in various challenges during the fall season,” said Smith.

  • Boys Golf - Palm League Champions, District Champions, State Runners-Up
  • Girls Golf - 3rd Place Regional Finish, Palm League Runners-Up
  • Football - Semi-final Appearance
  • Boys Swimming - 4th Place District Finish
  • Girls swimming - District Runners-Up
  • Volleyball - Palm League Champions, State Semi-Final Appearance
