Senior Student-Athlete Blain’s Jersey Retired

Senior student-athlete Ellie Blain’s volleyball jersey has officially been retired. The honor was announced during a virtual awards ceremony the evening of May 20. Blain's jersey will join the hallowed halls of the Healey Athletic Complex where other outstanding Benjamin athletes’ jerseys, rackets, and swimsuits have been retired.

Blain set Benjamin’s “kill” record with 1,224 kills during her four years as a varsity player. A kill is any time a player attacks (spikes) the ball and gets a point. Blain was named a Palm Beach Post and Sun Sentinel First Team All-Area Player her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She was also named the Best of Preps Small School Player of the Year for the 2018 season.

According to Assistant Athletic Director and varsity volleyball coach Alex Clarke, Blain was a leader on her team, seeing the group to four District Championships, four Regional Titles, and three State Runner-Up finishes.

“She is one of the best volleyball players to have come through The Benjamin School, and she contributed all four years she was here,” said Clarke.

Blain will continue her career as an accomplished student-athlete at Dartmouth next fall.
