Despite being presented virtually due to the coronavirus, The Palm Beach Post Excellence In High School Journalism Awards honored local high school students for their journalistic pursuits.

Nick Moschella, Executive Editor of the Post, opened the 40th annual awards ceremony by harkening back to the start of his journalism career 40 years ago. From President Reagan being sworn into office, to 52 hostages released by Iran, the introduction of the the first personal computer, and the beginning of the AIDS crisis, Moschella said - much like today - it was a very newsworthy period.

“We certainly know what headlines from today’s newspapers will stand out 40 years from now -  Coronavirus Rocks The World, Changing Our Lives Forever. But what’s been crystal clear surrounding the many unknowns in this unprecedented pandemic is the essential role of journalists.”
