US Newspaper Wins Scholastic Press Awards

The Benjamin School’s upper school newspaper The Pharcyde was awarded First Place With Special Merit and Best Opinion Pages from The American Scholastic Press Association for the 2019-2020 school year. The annual contest recognizes excellence in high school journalism in several award categories.

Faculty advisor John Peruggia, who currently serves at the helm of the paper, recognized recently retired Assistant Head For Academics and newspaper advisor Ken Didsbury for his decades of outstanding work on the newspaper.

"This latest recognition from the American Scholastic Press Association testifies to the hard work of students and  staff of The Pharcyde and the tireless dedication of their faculty advisor, Mr. Kendall Didsbury,” said Peruggia. “Our paper strives to provide a meaningful and loud megaphone for student voices and opinions, and to be honored for doing this well emboldens us to work harder at being more interesting, inclusive, and insightful."
