US Science Teacher Profiled By BrainPOP

Upper School science teacher Amanda Pierman ‘97, a Certified BrainPOP Educator, was profiled by the organization for her work integrating BrainPOP tools into her science curriculum.
Pierman, who teaches a hybrid class of remote and on-campus learners, said the duality has caused her to change her teaching methods and employ more technology.
Pierman said some of the BrainPOP exercises have been eye-opening “to see how these kids needed to vent their frustrations by putting down on paper how they are going to normalize this craziness, and utilize mindfulness practices such as meditation and gratitude.”
Pierman said her plans for the school year include both synchronous and asynchronous instruction and she plans to employ BrainPOP to reinforce or to introduce a topic. Pierman said the platform allows her students the opportunity to re-do any information they get wrong during the learning process.
“I want my students to know that it’s okay to fail. Let’s learn from our mistakes and move forward,” she said.
