LS Families Bring Furry Friends To Drop-Off

Lower school families brought their furry friends through the drop-off line Thursday morning for the division’s inaugural “Dogs At The Drive-Through.” The morning was the brainchild of lower school associate teacher Sue Ball who wanted a day to celebrate The Benjamin School’s four-legged friends.

Head of Lower School Dr. Kristen Sheehan said she loved seeing the joy the pets added to the morning.

“It was a great way to start the morning and such an enjoyable community-building activity that still allowed us to follow our covid protocols,” said Sheehan.

Coordinator of Admin. Services Kelley Hook, who was on hand helping with temperature checks for both students and furry friends, said her favorite part of the morning was watching the pride both students and parents had in their pets.

“The morning was another way to include additional members of the Benjamin community,” said Hook.

Pre-Kindergarten parent Tory Amerson said the morning held special meaning for her family following the death of her daughter’s beloved cat.

“My daughter woke up at 6:00 a.m. squealing about taking Timothy Truffles (our new kitten) to school . . . An event like this made her extra happy and excited to show off her new kitten to all her favorite teachers and TBS staff members,” said Amerson.
