MS Donates 2450 Pairs Of Shoes To Nonprofit Soles4Souls

Benjamin middle school students, led by faculty advisors Nancy McAllister and Lori Ramirez, collected more than 2,450 pairs of shoes for the non-profit organization Soles4Souls as part of a continued community service partnership. The organization’s mission is to create sustainable jobs and provide relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world.

Middle school Visual/Performing Arts Department Chair McAllister has been spearheading the initiative for five years. She said she is so grateful for the School’s continued support of the yearly shoe drive.

“Let’s talk about shoes,” said McAllister. “The ones in the way back of your closet. You know the ones. They sort of hurt your feet? Or they squeak? Or, quite frankly, you just don’t love them anymore and maybe never did? Yes, those. May we have them?”

Upper school junior Jakob Kroll’s family headed McAllister’s call, donating over 1,700 pairs of shoes!

“We are so grateful to the Kroll family and pleased that one of our upper school parents, Mr. Brian Murphy, brings shoes, backpacks, and socks to the Soles4Souls warehouse in Miami,” said McAllister.

McAllister said this year’s goal is to collect more than 2,500 pairs of shoes. The drive will continue through the end of February.
