US Faculty Treated To Lunch By Diversity Council

Upper school faculty and staff were treated to a delicious lunch on February 26 in celebration of Black History Month. The delectable meal was sponsored by alumni Talbot Sutter ‘07 and Rebecca Seelig ‘93, who both serve on the Alumni Council. 

While all three divisions incorporate black history topics into their curriculums throughout the year - not solely in February - the lunch served as a capstone to the month.  

Diversity Club students Kelvin Rolle, Jr. and Kaleb Rolle approached the Alumni Council and council member Nikasha Wells ‘98 for help planning the luncheon for faculty and staff. 

“The luncheon included traditional dishes that were inspired by the Black American experience,” said Wells. “[The Rolles] are wonderful young men and I was happy to help. I reached out to my fellow Alumni Council members for help and they didn’t hesitate. Talbot Sutter and his Real Estate Brokerage, Sutter & Nugent and Rebecca Seelig offered to help and we got it done.”

Wells said the Council recognizes the importance of diversity in The Benjamin Community.

“We are all made better when everyone has a seat at the table,” she said.
