BTV, Benjamin's upper school television news broadcast, earned All Florida honors from the Florida Scholastic Press Association. BTV earned All Florida honors in every category of their January 29 newscast including anchoring, writing, videography, editing, graphics, technical excellence, coverage, and law & ethics.
The program, helmed by upper school Director of Multimedia Productions Ken Archer, also earned the overall Gold Medal making it one of the top TV programs in the state of Florida.
Judges applauded co-anchors and reporters for their professionalism on-camera, proper pacing, and eye contact.
“There is no doubt that you have just about every aspect of the school covered,” said one judge. “The variety of stories is great, and you include students, faculty, and staff in your stories. The depth and breadth of the stories is laudable.”
Head of Upper School Fletcher Carr echoed this praise, saying the award is a great reflection of “sustained energy, curiosity, communication skills, and community interest among those involved.”
“I’m tremendously proud of those team members interviewing, anchoring, filming, and producing for the BTV crew as well as the interviewees and featured community members in the various stories. The combined efforts of those asking and those being asked are so impressive,” said Carr.
