Facilities Staff Member Used Hidden Talent To Fight COVID

Glenda Donato is known as a smiling face - even behind her mask - around campus. Though her official title is “Receiving Agent,” a more apt description might be “manager of all things.” She is the operational glue that holds everything together behind-the-scenes; a veritable pinch-hitter who steps up to the plate to get the job done.

In her spare time, this jill-of-all-trades enjoys sewing and crocheting. Many faculty and staff members have been the lucky recipients of her pieces of art over the years. This year, Donato used her talents to fight the COVID-19 pandemic while simultaneously supporting the School. She has been hand-sewing masks all year and donating them as gifts to the lower school Annual Fund campaign.

“I am the lucky recipient of four or five Buccaneer colored masks from Glenda as well as a great one for the Olympics,” said Head of School Dave Faus who applauded her selfless contribution to the Benjamin community.

Director of Annual Giving Sheena Wilber, who coordinates the Annual Fund, said she is grateful to Glenda for using her hidden talents to support the School.

“It is wonderful to be able to include the giveaway of masks created by the ever-talented Glenda as part of our faculty Annual Fund campaign,” said Wilber. “The generosity of our faculty and staff to contribute to the Annual Fund is greatly appreciated, especially in a year when so much has already been asked of them.”
