TV And Film Campers Produce Short Films

TV and film production campers enjoyed a hands-on experience in TV and film from industry professionals during two weeks of summer camp. Students in Grades 5-9 learned how to shoot video on the School’s high-definition cameras, write screenplays, and use Adobe Premiere editing software. 

Campers worked diligently and in just five short days produced, directed, and starred in their own short films using Benjamin’s HD video production facility. With the assistance of cutting-edge technology, campers learned 21st-century skills as they immersed themselves into all things TV and film. 

Instructor Nick Crisafi said the campers do an impressive amount of work in just five days. 

“They get a crash-course in screenwriting, learn how to use our professional-grade cameras, tripods, boom poles, and are given instruction on our Adobe Premiere Pro editing software that allows them to add in special effects and green screen footage,” said Crisafi who led the camp alongside Director of Multimedia Productions Ken Archer. 

Campers concluded their week with “Swede” awards; a short parody of a film that is often done tongue-in-cheek with “cheesy special effects and humor.” Crisafi said there are Swede Fests held all over the country each year. If the Palm Beach Swede Fest takes place this year, he said they may submit the campers’ videos as entries.
