Benjamin Athletics Named Sunshine Cup Runner-Up

The Benjamin School’s athletic program was named runner-up in the state-wide Floyd E. Lay Sunshine Cup All-Sports Awards. The high honor is presented each year by the FHSAA and recognizes athletic accomplishments for all boys and girls sports teams.

With over 80 schools vying for first place in the class 3A division, the award recognizes the incredible successes Benjamin athletics has enjoyed this year.

Athletic Director Ryan Smith ‘93 said the School has finished in the top 10 fairly consistently, but this is the highest finish since winning the award for the 2017-’18 school year.

“This could not have accomplished without the tireless work and commitment of our student-athletes and coaches. Finishing so high in the standings demonstrates a commitment by the School to all of our athletic teams and the entire athletic program,” said Smith.

According to competition rules, points are awarded to a school based on its finish in FHSAA State Series competition in each sport. The award recognizes the total achievement of all teams combined that participate in FHSAA sports.
