US Students Attend Max Planck Career Day

Fifteen upper school students were invited to attend Max Planck’s Science Career Day Panel and explore four of their labs. Students experienced some of the latest neuroscience research first-hand through the experience.

“Our students placed shrew blain slices on slides and sorted drosophila (fruit flies). They were shown how neuronal spines develop during memory formation and were taken into the scanning and transmission electron microscope labs,” said upper school science teacher Renee Szeliga.

She said students then heard from a panel of three researchers who explained their career journeys and what led them to Max Planck.

Simply put, Szeliga said the experience was “amazing!”
