US Marks Mental Wellness Month With Guest Speaker

In honor of January’s Mental Wellness Month, the upper school has been carving out advisory time to focus on mental wellbeing.

Advisors have led discussion groups about the importance of taking care of our minds and have allowed students to share how they practice mental wellness. Advisory groups also took part in an activity of their choosing that promotes wellbeing. Activities ranged from a walk, to a board game, even a guided meditation.

The focus on mental wellbeing culminated with guest speaker Rylee from the national organization Minding Your Mind. Rylee spoke to students during advisory time in Benjamin Hall about her mental health challenges and shared her story of hope and resilience.

“Asking for help isn’t weak, it’s the strongest thing I’ve ever done,” she told the upper school student body.
