The Benjamin Lower School’s XXXII Olympiad was a great success! For the month preceding the Olympics, each classroom engaged in an in-depth examination of the customs and cultures of its adopted country. One of the highlights of this process took place Tuesday when students enjoyed feasts from their respective countries.

It is essential in our ever-shrinking world that we understand the rich cultural legacies and diverse perspectives that are found both within our own country and other nations. Each student’s TBS experience has been enriched through his or her investigation of another country, and I know from many hundreds of Benjamin alumni that Olympic Events are ones which they will cherish forever.

The Olympic parade and ceremonial torch lighting are unique Benjamin traditions. Coupled with John Williams’ “Olympic Fanfare and Theme'' reverberating through campus, I even saw a few tears on the faces of our parents in the stands.
The culminating field day games were a perfect opportunity for our young Bucs to show their athleticism and sportsmanship. Congratulations to Mrs. Canese’s first-grade class for bringing home the gold medals!
