Upper School Scholars Inducted Into Cum Laude Society

Upper School Academic Dean Caroline Guzman led the tenth annual Cum Laude Society induction in Benjamin Hall the morning of April 13. With only 400 chapters in the world and 20 chapters in Florida, induction into the Cum Laude society is the highest academic honor bestowed on an upper school student. 

The society is dedicated to honoring scholastic achievement in secondary schools for the purpose of promoting excellence, justice, and honor. 

Head of Middle School Chuck Hagy, an honorary member of the society who is serving his 30th year of service at Benjamin, offered this year’s induction address. 

“Mr. Benjamin is known for saying that academic achievement is so important,” Hagy said. “But,  Mr.  Benjamin would go on to say that what is even more important is our students’ overall character. Their attitude. Their outlook on life. That brings us to our students on stage . . . we are so very proud of you. You are here because of your academic achievements, but more so because of how you live your lives. You symbolize the excellence, justice, and honor of Cum Laude and make the spirit of Mr. Benjamin’s vision a reality.”
