Star athletes, outstanding coaches and Olympic medalists filled the Kravis Center’s Cohen Pavilion Sunday night for the Palm Beach County Sports Hall Of Fame awards celebration. Two Benjamin graduates were among the all-star athletes inducted into the Hall of Fame. Benjamin’s Ryan Berube ‘92 and Julian Reynolds ‘95 were honored as part of the 2017 induction class.

Berube ‘92 became a nationally ranked swimmer while attending Benjamin, where he won state titles in the 200 yard individual medley and 500 yard freestyle. Berube’s swimming career led him to the 1996 Olympics where he took home gold for the 4X200 meter freestyle relay.

Reynolds developed her passion for running while attending Benjamin as the first African-American enrollee. She recorded 16 state titles during her high school career and earned a full track scholarship to Georgetown University. Among her many track and field accomplishments, Reynolds was an Olympic qualifier in 2008 and attained a top five world ranking.

“The individuals, teams and organizations being recognized this evening are exceptional role models for our youth . . . These individuals truly represent Palm Beach County and our Sports Commission motto, ‘Just Bring Your Game,’” Sports Commission President Eric Call said.

Also inducted into the 2017 class: Trish Faulkner, Thomas Flynn, Ja’Juan R. Seider, Scott Siegal and Nicole Schappert Tully.
