MS Newspaper Wins Gold Crown Award

Marti Lotman
The middle school online newspaper The Neersyde was awarded the Gold Crown Award by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. The paper was one of only two middle school news sites in the country to be tapped with the honor. The Gold Crown award is the highest honor conferred by the association. Student publications are judged on design, photography, concept, coverage and writing. The yearbook also received a first class rating from The National Scholastic Press Association.

"The students from last year did an exemplary job of creating not just a plethora of content, but high-quality content that challenged them as writers and reporters. The fact that there were only 10 of them in the Journalism & Web Media class and they received such outstanding meritorious awards for both the Azimuth and The Neersyde is a testament to their motivation, hard work, and extraordinary abilities,” said middle school teacher and yearbook faculty advisor Nick Crisafi.

Congratulations to the entire Neersyde staff!
