Kindergarten Works On First STEM Project

Kindergarten students were hard at work the morning of September 28, as they undertook their first ever STEM project! The class was joined by the entire second grade class and the two levels were paired for a fall themed STEM project.

The goal of the project was to design an easy to carry container that would hold as many apples as possible. The groups of students were given a handful of supplies and tasked with creating a basket that was easy to carry, had handles, could hold at least three apples and would be functional when walking at least 10 steps.

“Kindergarten was so excited to have 2nd grade join them in their first STEM project of the year. The children brainstormed and put their creativity to the test when they were asked to develop an Apple carrier out of various supplies. The top winner was 7 Apples! The children had to carry the apples in a carrier using the handles for at least 10 steps. They were so excited and everyone did a fantastic job! We can't wait for our next STEM project,” said Kindergarten teacher Lisa Glogower.
