Upper School College Counselors Meet With Eighth Grade Class

The Upper School college counseling team, in conjunction with Head of Upper School Fletcher Carr, visited with 8th grade students the morning of October 24 to speak to them about the high school and college experience.

Director of College Counseling Anna Wright asked the eighth graders, broken up by advisory groups, why they felt college was important. Answers ranged from “to get a sustainable job,” to “to continue my education.” Wright assured the group that the wonderful thing about the college admissions process is that there are so many colleges and universities to choose from.

“There are over 4,000 colleges in the United States. I can assure you there is a college out there for everyone in this room,” said Wright.

Carr and Wright, along with counselors Bekka Goldberg and Alain Darang, highlighted the importance of academics and how the Benjamin community helps students attain success in high school and after graduation.

“A lot of this is built on relationships. At the upper school you have a web of support that you’re part of. Whether it’s your coaches, counselors or advisors, you have people who are invested in both your success and you as a person,” said Carr.
