Divisions Celebrate Halloween Traditions

A unicorn. Play-Doh. A butterfly. Those were just some of the costumes on display during the annual Lower School Halloween Parade - a beloved Benjamin tradition.

The parade, the capstone of an October filled with holiday celebrations, showcased students in grades Pre-K-5 donned in their best Halloween costumes marching around Kennerly field.

High School seniors, who have been students at Benjamin since Pre-K, dressed in costume and joined the parade. The BASH Hospitality Committee sponsored coffee and donuts in the Buc Cafe for parents and faculty.

WOW students participated in their own grade-level parade on October 27. The little Bucs, dressed in costumes ranging from pilots to fairies, paraded around the quad with their teachers as parents eagerly looked on snapping photos.

Benjamin students and faculty took part in a wide variety of fall traditions, both old and new, this past month. Middle School students celebrated the holiday with their ninth-annual pumpkin decorating contest. Mrs. York and Rudner’s group tied for first place for 6th grade,  Ms. Rios’ group won for 7th grade and Ms. McAllister’s for 8th. Ms. Boykin’s class celebrated the holiday by hosting upper school science teacher Mr. Blount for Halloween themed chemistry projects.

Lower School students are using the holiday as a philanthropic opportunity. The students are donating their gently used Halloween costumes to Urban Youth Impact.

If you would like to donate a gently used Halloween costume please drop it off in Rooms 21-24 before November 10.
