All Three Divisions Celebrate ‘Grandest Friends’

Benjamin Lower, Middle and Upper School students welcomed hundreds of grandparents and grandest friends to campus the week of March 5. The honored guests joined their grandchildren and friends for a morning of activities during this cherished school tradition.

Students in the lower school spent time in their respective classrooms, where they showed their friends the role technology has played in their education. The Middle School showcased their Monuments Project, that told the stories of individuals who lived through the Holocaust.

Each division and their friends then travelled to the gymnasium where they enjoyed a breakfast hosted by the Benjamin Parents’ Association. Kori Searcy and a dedicated team of parent volunteers welcomed campus visitors before Division Heads greeted the grandest friends. Following breakfast, groups played traditional card games like UNO and War.

“It was so special to see the genuine connection between Benjamin students and their grandest friends. Playing the traditional card games allowed the students to give their undivided attention to their grandparents and friends. I feel honored to have been a part of such an authentic and cherished Benjamin tradition,” organizer and parent Searcy said.

Seniors invited their grandest friends to join them for a catered lunch in Benjamin Hall. Grandparents and friends were treated to a touching poem by Kailey Graziotto about what a grandparent is, followed by a musical performance by seniors Kris Armstrong, Alexa McEvoy and Andrew DeFerrari. Upper School Grade Liaison Coordinator Tarry Graziotto, who was in charge of the event, said she was thrilled to be part of such a time-honored tradition at Benjamin.
