COVID-19 Update 5/24/2021

Dear Members of The Benjamin School community,

As the current school year comes to a close this week, we have been carefully considering and making decisions regarding campus policies for our summer programs and the 2021-22 Academic Year. At the core of every decision we make is the health, safety, and well-being of our students and our community.

The declining positivity rate in Palm Beach County and Florida coupled with an abundant availability of the COVID-19 vaccine gives us confidence that our current health policies can be reduced and in some instances eliminated. Beginning June 7, 2021, the following policies will be in place:

Face Coverings: Face coverings will be optional for students, faculty, staff, and visitors on campus. While face coverings will not be mandatory, our community fully embraces any person who chooses to wear a face covering. We are dedicated to continuing to be an inclusive community where everyone feels welcomed and supported.

Temperature Checks: Consistent with current policies, temperature checks will not be required upon entering campus.

Cleaning: Our professional team will continue to clean and disinfect our campuses each day.

Sanitizing: Hand sanitizing stations will remain on our campuses, and healthy hand washing protocols will be encouraged.

Physical Distancing: In conjunction with the CDC’s recommendation, physical distancing will be reduced to 3 feet while inside the classroom or other buildings.

Visitors and Guests: Our campuses will be open to visitors with access through the divisional offices and admission office.

Capacity Limits: Building capacity limits will return to normal.

Air Filters: Upgraded filters and purifiers will remain in all buildings.

COVID-19 Management: Our policy for exposure to COVID-19 has been updated to reflect a shortened quarantine period in line with CDC recommendations.

Please keep in mind that should conditions surrounding COVID-19 change at any point, the school reserves the right to update our policies. Also, please remember that all current policies remain in place this week as we finish the academic year.

It has been a privilege to navigate this difficult year with a dedicated group of administrators and health professionals, and I thank the COVID-19 Task Force for all of their work. I am also grateful to our students, faculty, staff, and parents for supporting our efforts this year. Should you have specific questions about these policies or their implementation, please contact your division head.

Sincerely,
David C. Faus
