MS Advisory Groups Discuss Courage Ahead Of 9/11 Ceremony
Middle School advisory groups spent the week of September 11 discussing courage, one of the 12 Benjamin Values, and how it was exemplified throughout the events that unfolded on 9/11. Advisors facilitated student-led discussions that covered the idea of courage - what it is, who has historically demonstrated it, and how students could be courageous.
Students were asked a series of true/false questions about courage, ranked a series of actions from most to least courageous, and developed a personal mantra for courage. The advisory work comes ahead of the Middle School’s annual Patriot Day Remembrance this Friday.
Middle School Academic Dean Chuck Maddox said the exercise was a great way to help students reflect on the events of September 11 and the ways in which citizens became heroes through both small and large acts of courage.
