STATE ATTORNEY SCHILLER DISCUSSES CYBER SAFETY WITH US

The upper school welcomed Mr. Greg Schiller, a federal prosecutor with the US Attorney General’s office, as a guest speaker to discuss online safety on Friday morning. The event was made possible by last year’s BASH Call From The Heart.

Schiller spoke with the Middle School last year and returned to bring his message to upper school students. Schiller’s aim, he said, was to prevent students from being hurt online or from seeing him inside a courtroom.

Schiller has served as a sex crimes prosecutor, handling nearly 250 criminal cases involving internet crimes against children.

His presentation covered a wide range of topics, including online privacy, inappropriate content, and handling unwanted solicitations from individuals or strangers via social media platforms and the internet.

Schiller encouraged students to report anything inappropriate they may witness or receive online to cybertipline.org where they can safely file an anonymous report.
