US Newspaper Wins FSPA Awards

The Florida Scholastic Press Association recognized the upper school newspaper The Pharcyde for excellence in student journalism during its 2023 District Workshop in Pompano Beach, Florida. 

The Pharcyde won four awards in the FSPA’s fall Digital Contests. Joey Tomassetti and Matt Marasco won “Excellent” in Written Sports Commentary and Deadline Written News Story, respectively. Reid Waxman and Haley Roth won “Honorable Mentions” in “Written Commentary” and “Journalist at Work Photography,” respectively. Helmed by student advisor Dr. John Peruggia, The Pharcyde continues to shine.

Founded in 1946, the FSPA is comprised of more than 300 student publications throughout the state. The organization partners with student journalists and their advisors to educate, train, and support young journalists.
