SENIOR WINS DRAMAWORKS PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL

Senior Ava Schulites is taking home some new holiday hardware after winning Palm Beach Dramaworks Young Playwrights Festival for her play Dissimulare. Upper school drama teacher Jason Peck said this year’s contest was one of the organization’s most competitive, making her accomplishment even more impressive. 

This marks the fourth year a Benjamin student has won the festival. 

 

“What a fantastic testament to the talent and artistry of our Benjamin School students,” said Peck. 

Schulites will now have the opportunity to collaborate with professional actors, directors, and playwrights. Her play will also be featured in Benjamin’s One Act Festival on January 26 and 27 and will receive a professional reading at Dramaworks on February 28 at 7:00 p.m. 

Jacob Heilpern, Ryan Wuhrman, and Hannah Beam were all named semi-finalists in the competition.  

Head of upper school Fletcher Carr congratulated the young playwrights for taking top honors in this countywide competition. 

 

“Thanks, too, to all of our faculty members who work so hard and well to impart strong writing skills, easily the skill that the vast majority of our recent graduates list as the top factor in their college success,” said Carr.
