Lower School Celebrates 34th Annual Olympics

Benjamin lower school students proudly continued the school’s Olympic tradition during the 32nd annual games hosted on Kennerly Field. Students, each representing their homeroom’s assigned country, participated in an opening ceremony and competed in a variety of field events against their classmates over the course of the week.

Head of School Dave Faus welcomed students, parents, and spectators to the games, which began in 1990 as an educational endeavor and have since become a beloved annual tradition. He thanked faculty Olympic Day Coordinators Riordan Cheatham and Kathy Bailey for their tireless work behind-the-scenes to ensure the day ran smoothly.

The Olympic Day celebration is the culmination of a month-long multicultural study that includes the exploration of foreign customs and culture, including a culinary luncheon hosted on the eve of the Olympics.
