Juan Carlos Fanjul '93 Appointed Chief Development Officer

Dear Members of The Benjamin School Community,

I am writing to you today with tremendous enthusiasm regarding our success in attracting Juan Carlos Fanjul as our new Chief Development Officer.

After an exhaustive national search which began in the summer of 2015, TBS has been successful in recruiting a truly one-of-a-kind candidate. Given the time, energy and focus expended on this effort, it is no stretch to refer to our new development executive as “one-in-a-million!”

Filling the spot of our top fundraising position, Juan Carlos arrives with as diverse a set of educational and professional credentials as we could have ever anticipated. A Benjamin School alumnus of the Class of 1993, he pursued his undergraduate education at Boston College. He then embarked on a sixteen-year career as an award-winning television journalist in West Palm Beach, Miami and Chicago. His multiple awards include an Emmy for Best Reporter in the Chicago area and several Associated Press awards as well. Locally, some of you may have followed him as a prime news anchor on WPEC-CBS 12 in West Palm Beach.

Our newly hired Chief Development Officer most recently comes to us as the Vice President for Major Gifts and Planned Giving at United Way of Palm Beach County. His impressive portfolio there includes large major gifts with high net worth individuals. Juan Carlos oversaw the department that increased revenue at United Way for several years in a row, enabling the organization to help 1-in-5 residents. His success throughout his career is borne of a natural and genuine ability with people, a refined set of relationship-building skills, an engaging personality and a strong commitment to advance organizations whose mission is to help others. He will be of unparalleled counsel to us as well as the School’s media specialist.

Calling West Palm Beach his home for most of his childhood and adult life, and as an alumnus of The Benjamin School, Juan Carlos speaks eloquently of how this area of the country and TBS specifically have shaped his experiences and promoted his many successes. Juan Carlos was our galvanizing Master of Ceremonies as we opened Benjamin Hall in March of 2015. I remember thinking during that opening ceremony how fortunate our school would be if we were ever able to attract a talent like Mr. Fanjul to an executive position at TBS!

Juan Carlos will be starting his career with his beloved alma mater on November 16 and is looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible when you can spare a moment. Visit him in his new office on US1 in the Business and Advancement Offices.

Please accept my very best wishes to all of you as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches. This is a perfect time to thank you for believing in us as the best opportunity for your children.

Sincerely,

Bob Goldberg
